Now that the work is done, let's recap.
My very first "Short Film" has concluded , what did we learn?
Firstly you just need to jump, the idea of tackling an entire production on your own is daunting, but you can do it!
I think keeping your first films shorter helps greatly, it instills so much confidence knowing you do not have to keep an audience engaged for a tremendously long period of time. You can now focus on the fundamentals for the 3-5 minute film. Developing and telling a full story over 5 minutes is a cake walk in comparison to a feature film.
Audio, Audio, Audio! The way audio impacts your film is unparalleled, especially if you’re only giving viewers short length visuals. Complementing it with good sound design can really elevate the entire film.
Take the time to not only sound design. but layer the sound. your time line may end up a tad bit cluttered, but it is beyond worth it.
As a novice in the film making space I wish i had more insight to share to promote you to take that leap of faith, but a great saying i have heard time and time again is. “if you want to be a filmmaker, go make films”
Just get out there and create!
I promise it isn’t as scary as it seems.
